I loved making this shawl on the hot days because I used cotton. Cotton doesn’t get sticky in the heat for me like other yarns can. So summer crochet can be very enjoyable!
The yarn is a mill ends yarn I found at A.C.Moore. In worsted weight. (4). 10 ply. About 400g. or about 684 yards. I recommend rounding to 700 yards as mine had almost nothing extra. Like nail biting yarn chicken. Really not a fun game!
You can substitute with any worsted yarn I would imagine! I think a gradient yarn could be stunning! Don’t you think? If you make one please share it! I want to see!!!
This shawl measures from point to top about 34 inches. You can keep making yours bigger though! The rows get easier and easier as you go. Rows to repeat are 10-16 and can be found in video number 2.
You will find how to finish your shawl in video number 3. Keep watching to the end to even add a border if you like!
I used the recommended F/5 (3.75mm) crochet hook. It came from my new favorite HOOK SET found on Amazon.
The Pineapple stitch just yells summer to me! Have you done this stitch? Leave a comment below! and If you haven’t now is a great time. 🙂
Please share this post if you think this shawl is pretty!
And I hope you find my videos helpful.
I did just a very basic blocking job on this shawl. Many of you may say…..”Ummmmm, did you block it?” But I sort of did. I’m lazy when it comes to blocking! I just spritzed it with water and pulled it out on the tile floor. Yeah sad……..
Well thats that! Have so much fun if you make this shawl! And tag me on Instagram if you post a pic!
Lots of love and have a lovely crochet day,
Jonna
Love your work and your YouTube Videos.
Thank You Pam! I am so happy to hear this.
Dear Mss Martinez.. Thank you so very much for every video, explanation and guidance through the patterns that you make.. I came across your video’s on youtube when looking for ideas to a shawl with a yarn that I had, a yarn I had no idea of other than I loved it.. A thick cotton/acrylic with sequins.. At the time I was already working with another shawl, only waiting for the sequins yarn to tell mee which pattern was suitable.. And there it was, your ,Calandria.. I followed your every step and the result came out absolutely beautiful.. I even made one for a girl friend too, certain she would love it.. I really whish you could see it? Your video’s are so very helpfull to mee since I learn by watching (in everything in everything that I do), and while seeing a lot, I always return to your videos for patterns.. They are simply the best and so is your way of teaching.. And I just keep being so vey inspired as with this pineapple pattern that is going to be my next project? Thank you ever so much..
