So today I am writing about a Lucky Clover Crochet hot-pad or potholder. They are VERY simple to make! Add them with some candy coins and a kitchen candle and you have yourself a DIY lovable, useable gift.
This pattern is by Drops Design but if you prefer not to read a pattern I have done a YouTube tutorial on this shamrock potholder.
I used an F (3.75MM) crochet hook. The pattern calls for a 3.50mm but I don’t mind my pot holders a bit bigger. Less chance for a burn, Right?
I also used 100% cotton yarn. About 130 yards. Cotton yarn is the best for kitchen crochet because not only does cotton deter bacteria, it is easy to clean, light wait, and durable.
As a side note cotton can be hard to work with at first, it can split, and be stiff, but with practice anyone can use it! I use it more in summer because it stays cooler to the touch than wool, acrylic, or alpaca. Summer time crochet can me a misery with hot hands!
My pot holder turned out about 11 inches across. (28cm)
Have you ever made this project?
Do you think you”ll make it now?
Extra thoughts on cotton?
I would LOVE to hear from you in the comments below or on my Youtube channel.
Have a lovely crochet day,
Jonna
