I wanted to add a straight edge to my Beautiful Shells Blanket so I came up with this. Now I can leave it as is or I can add another edge!
I’ve created a video tutorial as well.
Continue scrolling for the pattern and a few more photos.
I will start with the square version of this blanket.
You have 7 double crochet in each shell.
You will need the yarn and hook you used for your blanket.
sc = single crochet
Dc= Double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
ch = chain
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
** Repeat all text between stars*
To begin:
Sc into the 4th Dc (middle st) of one of the side shells, sc into the next st, hdc, Dc, Dc into the sc of the previous row, Dc, hdc, *3sc, hdc, 3Dc, hdc* Repeat around.
When you get to the corners you need to *Dc, chain 2 and Dc* into the corner sc. Repeat this for all of the corners
Here’s another photo
Then you can to the same to your Rectangular Shells Blanket
This blanket has 5 Dc in each shell.
To begin the Rectangular:
Sc into the 3rd double crochet of one of the side shells. Sc into next st, hdc into next st, Dc into the sc of the previous row, hdc into next stitch, *sc into next 3 st, hdc, Dc, hdc* repeat until you get to a corner.
Now the corner sc gets a *Dc, chain 2 and Dc*. Repeat this for all of the corners
Slip stitch to join at the end of the row. From here you can add any edge you like.
Thank you for reading and please be sure to comment! I love hearing from you! Have a lovely crochet day,
