How To Crochet The Cozy Rectangles Blanket

Materials:
G (4.25mm) crochet hook
Ice Yarn wool worsted 30 (900g +, 1700 + yards) or any #4 worsted weight yarn  Scissors
Yarn needle
 Measuring tape

Abbreviations: ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
rnd = round
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st = stitch
blk/blks = block/ blocks (3 dc into same space) double blk = blk, ch 3, blk into corner space

Special Notes:

  •  sl st to top of ch 3 at the end of each rnd.
  •  ch 3 at the beginning of rnd counts as a st.
  •  There are many repeats in this pattern some repeats are within a repeat. Stars like this =* will indicate that you must repeat text between stars.
  •  Rounds are numbered and named for easy repeat reference.
  •  Double blk is 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc into same space.
  •  If you feel like using a different yarn and hook this pattern will still work! Gauge Pattern:Ch 17.
    Row 1. Dc into 4th ch from hook, dc into each remaining ch.
    Row 2-6. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc) dc into each st across, turn. 15 dc Finished 4 inches by 4 inches.

To Begin:

Ch 66,
Base 1: 3 dc into 6th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, blk into next ch* repeat until you have 3 remaining ch, skip 2 ch, dc into last ch (DO NOT TURN)

Base 2: ch 3, 2 dc into base of ch 3 (top of dc, grabbing the front loops of dc) =blk made.

ch 3, blk around the end dc, ch 3, blk into the first sp after end dc,

*blk into the next sp* repeat to end [now you are working on the back side of ch]

blk into last sp (beginning loop) ch 3, blk into same sp, ch 3, blk into same sp, work around beginning loop in half circle.

*skip blk, blk into next space* repeat to end, sl st to top of ch 3 at the beginning.

Base 3: ch 3, skip 2 dc, into ch 3 space: double blk, then skip 1 blk and into ch 3 sp, double blk, *skip 1 blk, blk into next sp* repeat to next ch 3.Into ch 3 – double blk, skip 1 blk, into ch 3 – double blk, *skip one blk, blk into next sp* repeat to end, 2 dc into last sp, sl st to top of ch 3.

Base 4: ch 3, 2 dc into 1st sp, double blk into ch 3, blk into next sp, double blk into ch 3 *blk into next sp* repeat to ch 3 sp.
Double blk into ch 3 sp, blk into next sp, double blk into ch 3 sp, *blk into next sp* repeat to end, sl st into top of ch 3.

Base 5: ch 3, skip 2 dc, *blk into next sp* repeat. When you get to the ch 3 spaces, place a double blk, at the end of rnd sl st to top of ch 3.

Base 6: ch 3, 2 dc into 1st sp, *blk into next sp* repeat. When you get to the ch 3 spaces, place a double blk. At the end of rnd sl st to top of ch 3. [AT THE END OF THIS RND YOU SHOULD HAVE 3 SINGLE BLKS AT THE SHORT END OF YOUR WORK, 28 ON THE LONG SIDES]

To create the expanding rectangle effect: After round 6 I did 2 rounds of cream, then 7 rows of gray, 2 more rounds of cream, 10 rounds of gray, 2 rounds of cream. Next I will do 13 rounds of gray and keep adding 3 more rounds of gray each time.
