Easy Crochet Area Rug

Teddy is ready for play!

Area rugs of various kinds have been with humanity from nearly the beginning. Giving a soft, warm and clean place to put our feet. Or simply to give a space some style. This crochet area rug is no different, and you can make it yourself!

I filmed a FREE tutorial. Make sure to check it out HERE.

And also LEFT HANDED.

The written Pattern is also provided FREE by Drops Design.

Erika Vondrak was kind enough to provide all of the yarn for making this rug. Check out her ETSY SHOP and use the coupon code JONNAM for 10% off. The yarn is called Cotton Air. It is a super bulky (6) yarn made from 100% regenerated cotton. It looks braided or woven when you look close, and I found it heavy but relatively easy to work with. This rug is durable! Don’t mess around, crochet an heirloom!

Or crocheting 🙂

For my 40 inch rug I used a total of 7 skeins of yarn. 574 yards.

I also used an L 8.00MM crochet hook. If you plan to use a little bigger hook or you crochet more loosely than me I suggest getting 8 skeins, as I only had about 2 yards left when finished. YAY yarn chicken! Or if you’re into yarn chicken games by all means let the games begin!

You will need a pair of scissors and a regular yarn needle to complete this rug. In the tutorial I show you how to join the yarn when you get to the end of a skein. Quite easy and quick. The last tail you can use your hook and weave in the end.

Will you try this rug? What color will you make? Tell me in the comment section here on the blog!
